Comedian/pundit Stephen Colbert and his television crew invaded the Olympic city of Vancouver
for a taping of the show on February 17-18, 2010. Over 10,000+ fans congregated to get a glimpse of the television & film star, at Creekside Park near Science World (home of the Russian Olympic pavilion). Stephen was in fine form as he interviewed Michael Bublé (the pair ended up singing a duet of O Canada to the tune of the Star Spangled Banner). Stephen then spun a Canadian version of “Better Know a District” - “Better Know a Riding”, covering South Vancouver (“The Fighting Southies!”). He also interviewed a number of Olympians including U.S. Gold medal winner Seth Wescott. At the end of the second day of tapings, the crowd started chanting “Ride the Moose! Ride the Moose!” (The crowd was referring to a stuffed prop moose on the set which Colbert nicknamed “Ebersol”). In true form, Stephen climbed the moose, waving the Canadian flag for the cheering fans).
